ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable is designed for tile, stone, bathroom, kitchen, and other compatible floor installations where a flexible cable layout is helpful. Loose cables can be routed through irregular spaces, around fixtures, and across custom heated areas before being embedded in mortar or self-leveling cement. Use ThermoTile® Cable with FixFast strips for a flexible layout, or pair it with an approved uncoupling membrane such as Schluter DITRA-HEAT® Membrane, Prodeso® Heat Membrane, and PROVA FLEX-Heat® Membrane when the project calls for membrane-based tile installation.

Is ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable safe for my home or business?
Yes. ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable is designed and tested for reliable electric floor heating in residential and commercial spaces. All ThermoTile® heating products are UL approved and listed. ThermoTile® floor heating cables are constructed to emit virtually zero Electro Magnetic Fields (EMF).
What floor types can ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable be used with?
ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable is most often used under ceramic tile and natural stone, but it can also be embedded in thin set, mortar, or self-leveling cement under many other compatible floor coverings. For wood, laminate, vinyl, or carpet projects, WarmStep® Electric Heating Mats or ThermoFloor® Electric Heating Mats may be easier options.
How is ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable installed?
ThermoTile® electric floor heating cables are laid out across the heated area and secured with FixFast cable holding strips. Alternatively, ThermoTile® heating cables can be laid out across Schluter, Prodeso or Prova uncoupling membranes in the recommended pattern and spacings, and then embedded in mortar or self-leveling cement. Final electrical connections should be made by a licensed electrician according to the ThermoSoft installation manual.
Will ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable add height to my floor?
For tile and stone installations, the ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable is embedded within the setting material and usually does not create any noticeable height issues. Other floor coverings may require self-leveling cement, so finished floor height should be planned before installation.
Can I use more than one ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable in a room?
Yes. Many projects use more than one ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable. Multiple heating cables are electrically wired in parallel to the thermostat. They should not be daisy chained or connected in series.
Can I cut ThermoTile® heating cable?
No. The ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable must never be cut, shortened, or altered. Cutting the heating cable will damage the system and void the warranty. Contact ThermoSoft to help choose the right cable length.
Can I shorten the cold lead wires?
The ThermoTile® cold lead wires do not produce heat and may be shortened or extended by a qualified electrician according to the installation manual and local code requirements.
What happens in areas not covered by ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable?
It is normal for some areas of room to remain unheated. The installer should create a level mortar or self-leveling compound bed across both heated and non-heated areas.
When should I choose ThermoTile® floor heating cable instead of ThermoTile® floor heating mats?
Choose ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable when the room has an irregular shape, tight turns, custom spacing needs, or areas where a pre-spaced ThermoTile® heating mat may not fit cleanly. ThermoTile® heating Mats are often easier for installation in open areas, while ThermoTile® heated cable offers more layout flexibility.
What are FixFast cable holding strips?
FixFast cable holding strips are metal strips used to secure loose heating cables in place during layout. They are designed to maintain recommended spacing before the cables are embedded in mortar or self-leveling cement.
How many Watts per square foot does ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable produce?
ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable produces about 10 to 12 Watts per square foot, depending on cable spacing.
How much does ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable cost to operate?
Operating costs depend on the heated area, cable spacing, local electricity rates, floor and the whole house insulation, thermostat temperature settings, and how often the system runs. For a specific project estimate, contact ThermoSoft’s US experts.
How warm will ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable make the floor?
A properly installed ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable system can typically raise the floor temperature by about 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit above the room’s ambient temperature. A thermostat with a floor sensor helps manage comfort, energy savings, and floor protection.
How long will ThermoTile® electric floor heating cable last?
ThermoTile® electric floor heating cables are very durable and reliable. They do not have any moving or wearable parts requiring regular maintenance once installed correctly and left undisturbed. ThermoTile® floor heating cables have a Lifetime Limited Warranty. Thermostats are warrantied separately.
