Did you know you know that electric radiant floor heating is the easiest type of heat to zone from room to room? If you are cold in your family room - in a forced air system, you walk over to the dining room (where the thermostat is) - and crank it up. Vroom - the furnace kicks in, and the vents start pouring out the hot air (yes even in the family room!).
Eventually - you are warm.
Steve (you might be thinking), what other options do I have?
Well - if each room had electric radiant floor heating - each room can also have an accompanying thermostat - which individual controls the floor heat in each room. Hence, the room that you spend much time in- you can warm up. The room you spend little time in can stay cooler until it is being used. This saves power consumption, which keeps the pennies in your pocket!
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend and tour "Greenbuild 2010" at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. It was an amazing show, with unique inventions and major manufacturers exhibiting awareness to energy conservation and preservation of our natural resources. Some had a strong energy story, and others were stretching to connect themselves with the movement. Some had legitimate claims, and others were using smoke and mirrors to claim their "green-ness". Check out all that went on.
I must say that Thermosoft does not need to stretch at all to stake its claim as a manufacturer of products with green features. From zoning of our product, to its 100% energy efficiency usage, radiant floor heating is a "green product".
The Cincinnati Zoo, the breeders of Parma Wallabies, and the Boy Scouts of America had one thing in common. They all desired to keep the baby Wallabies in their care warm and healthy over the bitter cold of Ohio winters. The question was, " How to do it"?
The team then turned to Thermosoft for electric radiant floor heat. The plan called for a 6' x 8' heated cement floor, sufficient to accommodate up to six wallabies. "The warm floor will provide a place for the wallabies to go to protect them from the cold," said Ben.
"Thermosoft was glad to be part of the project", said Vice President, Russ Dunn; "after all, our mission is to warm the world safely, comfortably and affordably. Although our products are typically installed for people to enjoy comfort, energy savings and enhanced property values, many of our customers tell us their pets love warm floors too. "
The Wallabies will stay with the breeder until they are requested by and released into the care of the Cincinnati Zoo or some other zoo. Until then, the Wallabies don't seem to mind enjoying the soothing comfort of Thermosoft's warm floors. Nor do they seem to mind having horses as neighbors.
